Identity verification is two photographs: your ID, and your face. They are compared to confirm they show the same person.
What you need
A valid government-issued photo ID, passport, driving licence, national ID card or residence permit.
A camera. Use your phone if you can, phone cameras are usually much better than laptop ones, and a blurry photo is the most common reason a check has to be retried.
Decent light, and a couple of minutes.
The steps
On the cashout page, select Confirm my identity.
Read what is collected and agree. Nothing is captured before you do.
Photograph your ID, front and back if asked.
Take a selfie when prompted.
That is it. You can close the page.
How long it takes
Most checks finish within a couple of minutes. Occasionally one needs a closer look, in which case the cashout page will say we are still checking, you do not need to do anything, and you do not need to start again.
Tips that save a retry
Lay the ID flat on a plain surface, not held up in your hand.
Avoid glare. Direct light on a laminated card washes out the text.
Get all four corners of the document in the frame.
Take the selfie without a hat, sunglasses or a face covering.
