Handing over a photograph of your passport is not a small thing to ask, so here is exactly what happens to it.
Who runs the check
Identity verification is carried out by Didit, an identity verification company, acting on our instructions. Your documents go to them, not to us. Nobody at RewardEarn sees your ID photo or your selfie.
What we receive is the answer: passed, or not passed.
What is collected
A photograph of your identity document.
A photograph of your face, taken at the same time.
A mathematical representation of your facial geometry, created only so the two photographs can be compared.
Under some laws, including in Illinois, that third item counts as biometric information. That is why we show you a notice and ask you to agree before anything is captured, rather than burying it in the terms.
How long it is kept
No longer than 12 months from the date of the check, after which it is permanently deleted. If a law or the purpose of the check requires it gone sooner, it goes sooner.
You can also ask us to delete it before then, at any time, by contacting support.
What we never do
We do not sell it, lease it, trade it, or make money from it in any way.
We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
We do not share it with anyone other than the verification provider, except where the law requires it.
What we keep afterwards
Only a record that a check happened, when, and whether it passed. That record contains no photographs and no biometric information. It is what stops us asking you to verify all over again.
